I decided to have lunch at Lena & Carbon as I was craving Colombian food and I was warmly welcomed and served by Elmer. He was incredibly hospitable and friendly even with my limited Spanish. I’ve been eating Bandeja Paisa almost every day since arriving in Colombia and this place does it particularly well. The chicharrón was a standout, especially paired with the smoky chorizo. It was easily one of the tastiest I’ve had so far and is well on its way to becoming a favourite. I also ordered the garlic prawns on the side, which were juicy and full of flavour. I especially enjoyed the generous pieces of chopped garlic throughout the dish. Overall, the food here was amazing, with great flavours and warm, welcoming service.
We found this restaurant through a Google search while in Bocagrande for a few days. The reviews did not disappoint. We came twice and both times the food was amazing and well done and presented. Atmosphere was great with music in the evenings but not too loud that it’s hard to carry a conversation. Elmer was our server both times and he is outstanding. I highlighted recommended a visit to Leña y Carbon. Prices are on par with service and food.
We decided to try Lena y Carbón in Cartagena after reading countless amazing reviews, especially about a waiter named Elmer and now we completely understand why everyone speaks so highly of him. Conveniently located right across from our hotel, this place ended up being one of the best dining experiences of our entire trip. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Everything came out incredibly fast, the atmosphere was welcoming, and Elmer truly elevated the entire experience. We trusted his recommendations and basically let him choose our meal for us, and every single thing he suggested was absolutely top-tier. I ordered the filet mignon with a baked potato, and somehow that baked potato had more flavor than potatoes I’ve had loaded with toppings back home. Simple, but unbelievably delicious. We also ordered the Baby beef, which reminded us of an American-style churrasco, but honestly even better. The seasoning, tenderness, and flavor of every bite were incredible. To finish everything off, Elmer recommended the passionfruit cheesecake, and it was phenomenal. Light, airy, fresh, and the perfect dessert after such an amazing meal. Between the food, the speed of service, and Elmer’s attention and recommendations, this restaurant completely exceeded expectations. We already plan on coming back again before our trip to Cartagena is over. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area ask for Elmer if you can!
What a great place! Wonderful people, we were served by Mr. Juan Domingo who presents everything with a warm smile and patience. Situated on a busy corner, with great ambience, smells, sounds. The wood fire grill is obvious and creates great smells. The food was delicious and at reasonable prices even for the location. The serving size is adequate, not huge or tiny. The only issues we felt could be improved is bread and butter service is non existent, and the drink prices vs size seemed a bit overpriced.
Great dinner tonight at Lena & Carbón. The food was very good and everything came out hot and well prepared. The meats were flavorful, the sides were fresh, and the shrimp appetizer was excellent. What really made the experience stand out was our server Elmer. His service was excellent—very attentive and professional. He checked back at the right times, made sure we had everything we needed, and kept the table comfortable without being intrusive. Overall a great dining experience. Good food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service from Elmer. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Cartagena.
