Begin with a warm welcome and a brief introduction to why Cali is known worldwide as the capital of salsa. Before the music starts, take part in a traditional viche ritual. Viche is an ancestral sugarcane spirit from Colombia’s Pacific coast, deeply connected to Afro-Colombian heritage.
Learn about its cultural roots, symbolism, and how it has been used for generations in celebrations and community gatherings. Share a small welcome shot to open the experience with intention and energy.
Then, it’s time to move. Your private instructor will tailor the lesson to your level — whether you have never danced before or already know a few steps. Learn essential salsa fundamentals, body movement, rhythm awareness, and partner connection (if you’re dancing as a couple).
Focus on feeling confident and relaxed, not overwhelmed. Expect clear guidance, laughter, and plenty of encouragement. As the session progresses, build toward a short, fun Cali-style combination.
Cali salsa is known for its speed, footwork, and flavor, but everything is adapted so it feels achievable and exciting. By the end of the lesson, perform your mini choreography, which will be recorded so you can take home a memorable video of your moment dancing in Cali.
