Directions to Tota Lagoon
'Tota' means 'tillage' in the indigenous language. Located 3.5 hours by car from Bogota is situated at 3,000 meters above sea level. Due to the height at which it is located, it is important to use sunscreen and carry a warm jacket for the cold. The largest tourist attraction of the lagoon is the practice of sport fishing from which you can get excellent rainbow trout; it is also excellent for the practice of nautical sports and the navigation. Each year, there is annual championship fishing and watersports. In the middle of Tota there are three islands: Saint Peter, Saint Helen and the small hill; those can be accessed by boat and offer nice scenery to admire. In the south side of the lagoon is Playa Blanca, a sanctuary for the worship used by the Muiscas indigenous; a place with white sand conducive to camping offers a good area of restaurants.
With a depth of up to 60 meters and covering an area of 55 square kilometers, it is a lagoon ideal for practicing water sports including fishing. There are five islands and a beach of intense white color where you can appreciate the strong surf that there is generated.
