GUADALAJARA DE BUGA
A journey of great historical, religious and cultural value.
Buga, a four-hundred-year-old city and one of the oldest cities in Colombia. Also known as “La Ciudad Señora”, it is the most important tourist, colonial and religious centre at a national level, thanks to the fact that it has one of the main religious pilgrimage centres of Catholicism in Colombia.
Its historic sector, together with its architectural heritage, is worth visiting. It is a national monument, and in it you can admire ancient religious and civil buildings, which recall the history and the Buga personality that forged Colombian independence and nationality.
The city of Buga has a charm that sometimes goes unnoticed by those who live there, but not by those who come to visit it for the first time, as they delight in walking through its streets that are part of the network of heritage towns of Colombia, which places it on the world map of tourism, thanks to its assets of cultural interest and heritage value, religious buildings dating from the 16th to the 18th centuries, old mansions that show the architectural typologies of the colonial and republican era.
Buga is a city in which the colonial and the contemporary are harmoniously combined. Its historic sector preserves the collective memory, tradition and the colonial balconies of the city in the architecture, a place whose attractions invite visitors to walk through its narrow streets full of history and legend.
