Description
Follow us on a unique adventure that will transport you to the heart of history and nature in Barichara and Guane. This fascinating guided tour will take you through breathtaking landscapes and immerse you in the deepest roots of the region.
We begin in Barichara, a picturesque village of cobblestone streets and colonial architecture that seems suspended in time. Here, you will discover the history of its founding in the 18th century, witnessing a past full of adventure and transformation. The journey continues along the legendary Camino Real, an ancient trail once traveled by the Guane indigenous people and later by the Spanish conquistadors. As we travel along this ancient road, the landscape unfolds before your eyes: deep, majestic canyons, green mountains covered in dense fog, and flora and fauna that tell stories of centuries of evolution. Upon arriving in Guane, a quiet village surrounded by an almost magical setting, we will visit the Paleontological and Anthropological Museum. Here, traces of prehistory come to life as we explore fossils that bear witness to the evolution of the Earth and delve into the legacy of the Guane indigenous people, a people whose spirit can still be felt in the air. The vestiges of their culture, customs, and struggle during the Spanish colonization tell a profound story of resistance and adaptation.
Our route continues with a stop at the viewpoint, where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the valleys and canyons that surround this magical territory. The views are a reminder of the grandeur of nature that has shaped this region for millennia. To complete this unique experience, we will head to the Chapel of Santa Lucía, a historic landmark where the first evangelization processes in the region began. This peaceful place witnessed the first encounters between the indigenous people and the colonizers, a starting point in the fusion of two worlds that would forever transform the destiny of this land.
