The Páramo de Sumapaz is the largest páramo ecosystem in the world. Discover this unique moorland on a day trip from Bogotá.
The adventure begins at the Cranky Croc Hostel. Participants will depart from Bogotá and head to the Páramo de Sumapaz, with a stop for a traditional breakfast. Upon arrival, the altitude exceeds 3500 meters (11,500 feet), encompassing nearly half a million acres of distinct flora and fauna. Wildlife sightings may include Andean bears, deer, eagles, and condors. A hiking adventure will allow exploration of the landscapes.
The experience includes insights into the region's indigenous traditions and their historical practices prior to Spanish colonization. Participants will visit two viewpoints featuring panoramic views of the Frailejones Valley and the glacial lagoons of the páramo. After the hike, there will be a stop at a farmhouse for fruit snacks.
The trip concludes with transportation back to Bogotá, approximately eight hours after pickup.
