Description

Experience the bizarre and wellness magic of the Mud Volcano El Totumo and unwind by the sea on this essential half-day tour from Cartagena. Begin with round-trip, air-conditioned transportation and the company of a bilingual local guide who will lead the journey and provide cultural context.

Upon arrival at the mini-volcano, climb the stairs and descend into the dense, mineral-rich mud for an unforgettable, weightless floating sensation. Enjoy approximately 10–15 minutes inside the mud bath, depending on how busy the volcano is that day. Afterward, allow around 30 minutes to wash off and enjoy the nearby lagoon before continuing your adventure.

Next, head to La Boquilla Beach (north of Cartagena's Historic Center), where you will be welcomed with a refreshing complimentary coconut drink. Spend approximately two hours relaxing on the sand, soaking up the sunshine, or strolling along the shore. You can also purchase lunch at one of the beachfront restaurants and enjoy a leisurely meal overlooking the sea. Lunch and additional food or drinks are not included.

While transportation, your guide, and a coconut drink are included in the booking price, guests must bring Colombian pesos in cash to cover the volcano entrance fee of COP $20,000 and the rinse-off fee of COP $5,000. These fees are paid directly to the local community that cares for the volcano, helping your visit support the people of the region. Bring small bills!

Bring swimwear, your own towel, sunscreen, snacks, and drinking water, especially for your time at the beach. After your beach break, return comfortably to Cartagena’s historic center to finish the experience.
