Description
Day 1: Santa Marta – Mamey – Camp 1 – Camp 2 – Paraíso (Camp 3)
Approximate times: Santa Marta to Mamey (3 hours by vehicle); Mamey to Camp 1 (3 hours); Camp 1 to Camp 2 (3 hours); Camp 2 to Camp 3 'Paraíso' (4 hours).
Departure from Santa Marta is at 4:00 a.m. in 4x4 vehicles towards El Mamey. After breakfast in the village, the trek begins to the first camp, 'Adán' or 'Alfredo', passing Mirador de las Tres Cruces and river swimming spots. After lunch, continue hiking to Wiwa or Múmake Cabin (Camp 2). Following a short break, continue to the road next to the indigenous village of Mutanyi until reaching Camp 3: 'Paraíso' or 'Paso de Lorenzo' for the night.
Camp 3 facilities include bathrooms, showers, and generator electricity from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Day 2: Lost City – Camp 2
Approximate times: Camp 3 to Lost City (1 hour); Archaeological Park tour (3 hours); return from Camp 3 to Camp 2 (4 hours).
After breakfast, climb 1,200 steps to the Lost City. A local guide will lead a 3-hour tour of terraces, paths, and sacred Tayrona civilization structures surrounded by jungle. After lunch at Camp 3, hike back to Camp 2 (Wiwa or Múmake Cabin) for the night.
Camp 2 offers limited electricity, bathrooms, and showers.
Day 3: Camp 2 – El Mamey – Santa Marta
Approximate time: Camp 2 to El Mamey (6 hours).
Start with a 2-hour hike to Camp 1 (Adán or Alfredo) for a short break, then continue 4 hours to El Mamey. After lunch, return by vehicle to Santa Marta.

- The trek requires excellent physical fitness with 6 to 8 hours walking daily on uneven terrain and humid conditions.
- Daytime temperatures range from 26°C to 32°C; night temperatures can drop to 18°C.
- Expect humid and hot weather with a high chance of afternoon rain; trails may be muddy.
- Bring high-quality insect repellent due to mosquitoes and other insects.
- Crossover of streams is required, so wear quick-drying shoes and clothing.
