Silleteros (flower carriers) are famous around the world and participate in many parades and festivities. One of the world's most famous parades is the annual Feria de las Flores in Medellin and hundreds of Silleteros participate. Many of the flower displays are built and constructed in nearby Santa Elena and the finca of Don Aristides is perhaps the most famous in the world.
This tour is designed to let you see how these elaborate flower displays are made, provide a brief history and tradition of the Silleteros as well as introduce you to nearby Santa Elena. Bring your sweet tooth. Their pastries and desserts are famous throughout Latin America. After a 45-minute ride through the countryside, the tour arrives at a local farm where one of the most representative Silleteros of the region will give a personalized visit to his estate. There is free time to enjoy this pleasant location amid orchids, sunflowers and many others. A courtesy beverage is offered before the walk around these magnificent flower crops.
