Learn about the life and times of the drug lord Pablo Escobar on a guided tour of Medellin and discover how the city has changed since his death in 1993. Loved and feared by millions, Pablo Escobar’s story is intimately linked to the recent history of Colombia’s second largest city. Travel back to the time of Pablo Escobar's reign over the city and learn about his extensive cocaine operation. Visit many historical sites with Escobar associations, from the modest community where he grew up to the house where he was shot dead in 1993, and his grave next to the “Black Widow” drug lord, Griselda Blanco. Another highlight is the Monaco Building (Edificio Monaco) where he lived and survived a bomb attack by the rival Cali cartel that was designed to kill him. For the second half of the 10-hour tour, head east for an hour to see Escobar’s abandoned mansion “La Manuela” from top of the El Peñol rock. Then take some time to explore the beautiful facades of the Guatapé village, grab a bite to eat and use the facilities. Finally, hop on a private boat to Escobar’s mansion and walk around to see what’s left after years of curious visitors tearing down walls and cabinets.
