Description
Starting in Salento Quindío in a jeep willys from the Cocoratours office on Calle #2 -09, at the end of Calle Real in front of the Mahalo hotel, or your hotel if it's in the urban area of Salento Quindío, to the Cocora Valley where this activity will begin:
It's important to mention that we usually start with a horseback ride of about 30 minutes, giving you the opportunity to pass through the Cardenas ravine and the small waterfall that forms there. Then, we'll head to the Palmas de Cera viewpoint, where you can take photos of the structures created in this area, such as the Cocora sign, the flag, the condor's nest, the puma, and the hand, among others. At the Mirador de las Palmas, we'll have a walk of 2 to 3 hours, depending on what you like.
After Cocora, we'll head back to Salento. There, we'll enjoy a traditional local dish at a typical restaurant, if you like, or another option like rice, salad, giant patacón, or hogao with lemonade. If you don't like fish, you can substitute it with beef, chicken, or pork (the dish may vary depending on the meat). We also have special vegetarian options. Just so you know, it could be a restaurant in Salento or near the farm where the waterfall is, which is our next stop.
Venture out to the Santa Rita waterfall, where you can visit a beautiful dream estate and its gardens to start the rest of the hike through the tunnels of the old railway, the natural forest, the camping landscapes, and the hanging bridges. When you get to the waterfall, you'll find a changing area to swim in the 1.5-meter-deep waterfall lake. Then, you can head to the 3-meter-deep natural pool and its cavern (access to the waterfall lakes depends on weather conditions).
We'll finish with a city tour of Salento, visiting the most iconic spots like the Mirador Eco Park, Alto de la Cruz, Las Escaleras, and Calle Real, where the activity ends so you can browse the different stores or craft areas and do some shopping.
