Description

Adventure in the Suárez Canyon: From Guane to La Fuente Are you ready for a journey that'll take you deep into the heart of a Tropical Dry Forest and an ancestral legacy that's stood the test of time? This hike invites you to connect with an ancient landscape and discover the richness of a unique ecosystem. The tour kicks off in Barichara, Colombia's architectural gem, where we'll be picked up at the main park and head to the charming town of Guane. This old indigenous settlement, where the Guane aborigines lived during colonial times, will take you back to another era. After a snack, our native local guide will take us down the trail to the Suárez Canyon. With every step, you'll see the vastness of the canyon's two sides, a stunning landscape that stretches all the way to the horizon. This path is a journey through the Earth's history. You'll see rocks that were once part of an ancient sea, with embedded fossils that tell the region's geological story. The trail will take us to the legendary Lengerke Bridge, a stunning architectural gem built in the 19th century by the German Geo von Lengerke to connect the region's roads. As you get closer to the Suárez River, which the Guanes used to call Sarabita, you'll see the beauty of the tropical dry forest. Our guide will show you its unique flora and fauna, and you might even spot some amazing native species like the anteater. Finally, the trail will take us to our final destination: the town of La Fuente. Here, we'll enjoy a well-deserved lunch in the La Pao gorge, a natural water haven where you can take a refreshing dip. In this place off the beaten path, you'll feel a unique connection with nature and the local communities. By visiting, you'll be directly helping the economy of these communities, which keep the region's essence alive. After recharging, our transport will be waiting to take us back to Barichara, wrapping up this experience in the main park. It's the perfect adventure for hiking and photography enthusiasts, and for those looking for a real connection with the land and its communities.
