Description
Tobacco Tour - Living tradition from the land
Location: Barichara - Finca de los Angarita - Finca Los Hoyos - Bribón Factory
Duration: 6 to 7 hours
Modality: Experiential - cultural - gastronomic route.
The Tobacco Tour is an immersive experience that travels through the history, landscape and rural memory of Barichara, cradle of one of the most deeply rooted agricultural traditions of the region. On board a colorful traditional chiva, participants travel from the town center to the Angarita Farm, where the journey begins from the seed to the cured leaf.
Guided by peasant families, visitors learn about each phase of the tobacco process: work in the melga (land preparation and planting), manual harvesting, stringing of the leaves, the cajoniada and artisanal drying in sheds. The entire process is explained and demonstrated by those who have inherited it for generations, allowing a direct connection with rural culture.
The route continues to Finca Los Hoyos, where a gastronomic experience is offered in a natural and authentic environment. Lunch, prepared on a wood-burning stove, highlights the flavors of Santander's peasant cuisine, accompanied by stories and local hospitality.
Finally, the group visits the Bribón Factory, where the transformation of tobacco into handmade products is observed. Here the process of selection, fermentation, pressing, conservation and packaging is explained, highlighting the craftsmanship that gives life to each piece. There is a space to appreciate aromas and textures, and even to purchase products as a souvenir of this unique experience.
Ideal for: travelers interested in rural culture, agricultural heritage, living traditions and authentic experiences outside the conventional.
