A visit in the morning or afternoon is enough to tour the whole shows that the museum has to offer.

Located inside the walled city area, in the Plaza de Santa Teresa, between the St. Francis Xavier bastion and the Church and Museum of San Pedro Claver. It has permanent exhibits related to the Military and Naval history of Cartagena, the universal navigation, and the Colombian Navy; it was renovated and opened for celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Discovery of America. The building, where the museum is installed, was formerly a military place and retains very old elements as galleries, which can be seen in a yard and a hall used for special celebrations.
