Description

We'll pick you up at the hotel at the scheduled time to kick off an experience that combines history, tradition, and local culture in one of Bucaramanga's most iconic neighborhoods: San Francisco, the birthplace of merchants, artisans, and families who have kept the Bucaramanga identity alive for generations. Our tour kicks off at the market square in the San Francisco neighborhood, a vibrant place where every aisle tells a story. We'll stroll among the vegetable, tuber, and fruit stalls, discovering why Santander is the country's second-largest food-producing department. We'll learn about cassava, the different varieties of potatoes, and the smooth avocado from San Vicente de Chucurí, affectionately known as 'the butter.' In the fruit area, you'll try up to six local varieties, including pomegranate and pineapple from Lebrija, as well as enjoying freshly prepared natural juices, fresh and full of flavor. Before heading out, we'll check out the spaces dedicated to crafts, medicinal and aromatic plants, where tradition blends with popular wisdom. When we leave the market, we'll walk a few blocks to immerse ourselves in the daily life of the neighborhood, with its active commercial atmosphere and unique energy. We'll arrive at the Church of San Francisco de Asís, a spiritual meeting point and the heart of the area, where we'll learn about its history and the social legacy of the Franciscan community, a key part of the neighborhood's formation and community life. From there, we'll head to the leather goods area, a source of pride for Buenaventura, recognized nationwide for the quality and design of its products. Here you'll find shoes, wallets, belts, and accessories made by local hands, with special prices and exclusive discounts for our travelers. During the tour, you'll also enjoy typical street foods, such as corn arepas, artisanal chorizos, and traditional drinks, which add an authentic touch to this experience that combines history, flavor, and local talent. At the end, we'll take you back to your hotel with the memory of a day that sums up the productive and cultural soul of Bucaramanga, among aromas, textures, and tradition.
