Description

The day starts very early in the morning with our meeting at the informed points: 07:00 AM: Departure from the Parque de los Periodistas in La Candelaria. 8:00 AM: Meeting with the rest of the group at the second meeting point: Parque de la 93. From here we will leave for Guatavita. 09:45 AM: Arrival to the town of Guatavita. We will walk through the town and discover its cobbled streets, colonial houses and historical monuments. We will visit the main park of Guatavita where the church of Nuestra Señora de la Natividad is located, built in the 18th century and the House of Culture of Guatavita, where all the history and cultural value and area. 10:30 AM: We will begin the walk to the Guatavita Lagoon, located within the Chingaza Natural Park. Accompanied by our expert guide, you will walk the trails that surround the sacred lagoon and learn more about the legend of El Dorado and the Muisca culture. According to legend, the Guatavita Lagoon was the site of a sacred ceremony performed by the indigenous Muisca in which the cacique was immersed in the water along with offerings of gold and emeralds. The ceremony was performed to honor the goddess of fertility and abundance, and it was believed that the cacique emerged from the water purified and blessed by the goddess. At this point, you will be able to connect with nature, the wild and mystical climate of the páramo and enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the Andes. 12:45 PM: From Guatavita we will set off for an hour towards the city of Zipaquirá, once we arrive at our destination, we will have free time for lunch (lunch not included). 02:45 PM: Arrival at the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral. You will learn the story behind this impressive work of architecture and mining. The tour of the cathedral will be free with an audio guide and you will be able to explore the various chapels and spaces for meditation and reflection. You will learn about the history of salt mining in the region and how the Salt Cathedral was built. 05:00 PM: We will return to the town of Zipaquirá where you can learn a little about the local culture of this picturesque town , its beautiful colonial square and the old train station. You will have free time to have a coffee or buy souvenirs in the local craft shops. 05:45 PM: Departure to Bogotá. 06:30 PM: Arrival at Parque de la 93. Disembarkation of the first travelers. 07:30 PM: Arrival at La Candelaria. End of our activity. * Note: Schedules may vary slightly depending on traffic and weather conditions.
