Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Afro-Latin culture and ancestral heritage through the rhythmic beats of the drum and captivating musical performances that will connect you with Afro-Colombian rhythms and folk music such as Cumbia, Mapalé, and Champeta. Led by young entrepreneurs from the Afro-descendant community of La Boquilla in Cartagena de Indias, this community project is dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural traditions. La Boquilla, a fishing village with Afro-Caribbean roots located at the northernmost point of Cartagena de Indias, has been engaged in a heroic struggle for over 200 years to preserve its ancestral traditions, with drums and dancing playing a central role. The itinerary begins with assembly at the stage area in La Boquilla, conveniently just a 10-minute Uber ride from Cartagena, on the beachfront where many new hotels are situated. The activity spans approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, allowing you to immerse yourself in drumming and dancing. Afterward, you're encouraged to explore nearby restaurants and savor a delicious Caribbean meal while enjoying beach views. For a seamless continuation of your travel day experience, we recommend following this activity with our 5 PM horseback riding excursion along the beach. If you choose to book, the same knowledgeable tour guide will be present during this other activity. This project aims to rescue and preserve cultural traditions of African heritage.
